I'm working on my NYT Crossword Statistical Analysis program and it turns out there are some surprising facts Cruciverb doesn't reveal. But I'm skipping ahead. The Wednesday puzzle has a military theme. I liked "Standby's salvation" (NOSHOW) and particularly 27 Across: "Carte blanche offer" (6 letters.) It's a creative clue. The answer is NAMEIT.
