Everybody loves palindromes. That man with a plan. Adam's introductory remark. If you're a word lover the most interesting fact about Napoleon is his famous utterance "Able was I ere I saw Elba." The fact that he never said it hardly matters. The fact that he couldn't have said it because he spoke French is irrelevant.
Palindromes in puzzles can be particularly satisfying. There's a wonderful aha moment when you figure out the trick and suddenly you're filling in squares twice as quickly. As I whined previously, though, they gave away the trick too early in today's Thursday puzzle. I was denied my discovery because theme clues gave it away. Still, a fun puzzle and I particularly liked "Palindromic Senate worker looks with amazement upon job payment inconsistency": PAGE GAWKS AT TASK WAGE GAP.
This wonderful Palindrome Encyclopedia is worth noting. It has one of the best book titles ever: I Love Me, Vol I. See book links on the left.
